New Regulations for Cars Sold in VT

There is yet another sign that Vermont is leading the green revolution and branding our state as the Green state: it has been reported that Vermont regulation now requires new cars starting with model year 2010 to carry labels with information about the vehicle’s smog and greenhouse gas emissions. Apparently we are the second state to require such labels, after California. This reported on WPTZ news in the Burlington area and in various sources online (search for “Vermont emissions labels cars” and you’ll find all kinds of things). I don’t find any official statement on the new regulations from the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (ANR). The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Statement (GGES) that apparently accompanied the new regulations can be found at the ANR web site.  The statute mandating the regulation is 10 V.S.A §579, enacted by the Vermont Legislature in May 2007.
